The next version will actually have the ability to automatically apply Highlight Rules to logs opened from Watched Folders.

After that, we're planning to revamp the column configuration stuff which will make it possible to add them to Watched Folders as well

Are you looking to have it automatically close file1.log when it opens file2.log?

Picking up on this, and adding my original thought:
- Would it be possible to have the file that is opened in the Watched Folder also automatically pick up the column and highlight settings in effect for the previous (probably now dead) file in the same folder?

Often web server log files have a good few columns: maybe the column/highlight settings could be associated with a file name pattern, rather than just a file name ?

Yes, you are right. My SystemOut.log (if I keep my PC running) keeps tailing even if the SystemOut.log rolls out to a new name.

LogFusion would just continue reading in the lines from the new log. As long as its the same file name, it should keep tailing it, even after it's been cleared on the file system

I wouldn't mind being able to ssh into my Linux box and tail my SystemOut.log in real time using LogFusion.

Sorry to thread hijack. On a related note, if I have a SystemOut.log that rolls to new name at 11:59:59pm, how will LogFusion handle the new SystemOut.log that starts at 0 byte again for the new day?

Apparently, it has picked them up since I posted this this morning. I will keep an eye on it and make sure there are no more "issues" either with the software or the user

Hmmm. That does not seem to be working. I have had the console running overnight and new log files were created overnight but the logfusion app did not pick them up.

I was wondering if this feature is intelligent enough to always load the most recent file. For example, If the naming convention has a date in the name of the log such as server.log and a new file is created every day with server.log. Will logfusion detect this and load the more recent file?
