The filter functionality is very usefull; I often search for somthing and select the found item, then deleting the filter to see the context. But if I selected the wrong item, then I have to retype the filter to find another instance.
Is it possible to include a filter history to avoid the need to retype a previous filter action?
Also this would be useful for absent minded users, like me, to remember what I searched for.

Would like to bump this request - adding history drop down to the filter text input.

Additionally, would it be possible to have a check-box to "Show context" ? Selecting this check-box would show a user configured amount of additional lines (maybe a default of 2 or 3?) above and below the actual line found by the filter.

Add my vote for this feature. It's very frustrating having to re-enter some filter sequences each time.
